Farabi on fresh 5-day remand
14 March 2015, Nirapad News: A Dhaka court on Saturday has placed Shafiur Rahman Farabi on 5-day remand in a case filed over violating ICT act.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mustafizur Rahman passed the order on Saturday afternoon around 4:10 pm.
Inspector of Detective brunch of police Md Wahidduzzamna produced him before the court with a 10-day remand plea.
Earlier on the day, DB Inspector Fazlul Karim filed a case with Ramna police station over violating ICT act.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel arrested extremist Farabi from Jatrabari bus stand on March 2 and placed for a 10-day remand in that case on March 3.
Avijit, 45, was hacked to death and his wife Rafida Ahmed Bonna was seriously injured in an attack by unidentified assailants near the TSC of Dhaka University on February 26. Friends and family of Avijit Roy said the outspoken humanist had been receiving death threats since 2012.
Farabi is one militant with whom Avijit is known to have debated online. His exchanges with Avijit resulted in death threats against the blogger.
