Farabi’s Sylhet house raided
08 March 2015, Nirapad News: Police have raided the Sylhet residence of extremist Farabi Shafiur Rahman, who was arrested for his alleged involvement in the killing of scientist-blogger Avijit Roy.
Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) of police seized a CPU, laptop, books and some important documents in the raid conducted from 11 am till 12:30 on Sunday.
Police said Farabi had been staying with his mother and sister on the third floor of the building for the past three years.
Kotwali OC Asaduzzaman told the Dhaka Tribune: “Kotwali police assisted the team in the raid led by DB Sub-Inspector Wahiduzzaman.”
However, no one was found in the flat during the raid.
Sylhet Additional Deputy Commissioner Md Rahmat Ullah said: “We did not have any information regarding Farabi’s stay in Sylhet. We came to know about it from the DB team visiting from Dhaka.”
“If they want cooperation, then we can investigate about Farabi’s network,” he said.
Avijit, 45, was hacked to death and his wife Rafida Ahmed Bonna, 35, was seriously injured in an attack by unidentified assailants near the TSC roundabout on February 26.
