Feasibility study of metro rail in February
09 November 2015, Nirapad News: Road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader said feasibility study for metro rail services in Dhaka will begin in February next.
The minister made this disclosure while addressing a meeting of Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority at Nagar Bhaban of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Sunday noon.
He said that feasibility study of Metro Railway Transit (MRT)-1 and MRT-5 will begin in February next.
The 26-kilometer MRT-1 will start from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to Kamalapur Rail Station via Kuril Flyover, American embassy, Rumpura, Malibagh, Mouchak.
On the other hand, the 16-kilometwer MRT-5 will connect Gabtoli with Bhatara via Technical, Mirpur-1, Mirpur-10, Mirpur 14, Cantonment, Kemal Ataturk Avenue, Gulshan and Madani Avenue.
The minister further said that a tunnel will be constructed in front of the airport, U-loop at Gabtoli, flyover from Bijoynagar to Keraniganj.
