First-ever Indo-Bangla Automotive Show begins in city today

Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader inaugurated the first-ever ‘Indo-Bangla Automotive Show -2017’

02 February 2017, Nirapad News: The first-ever ‘Indo-Bangla Automotive Show -2017’ began in the city today with a view to creating a ground of exchanging cooperation between the auto manufacturing sectors of Bangladesh and India. Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader inaugurated the three-day show at International Convention City Bashundhara here. Indian High Commissioner Harsh Vardhan Shringla and Senior Secretary for Industries Md. Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan were also present.

“India automotive companies can explore the possibility of working together with the business community and the government of Bangladesh to promote manufacturing in Bangladesh by setting up joint ventures,” said Harsh Vardhan Shringla.

He said Tata Motors and Nitol-Niloy Group have jointly set up an assembly plant in Jessore, Hero Moto Corporation has been setting up a two-wheeler plant in Jessore, Ashok Leyland and Ifad Auto are also inaugurating their assembly plant today at Dhamrai, he added.

“With economic growth of over seven percent, greater incomes and improving road infrastructure, the demand for automobiles in Bangladesh has increased,” he added.

The Indian Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, High Commission of India in Dhaka, Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI), Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), Bangladesh Automobile Assemblers & Manufacturers Association (BAAMA), and Bangladesh Motorcycle Assemblers & Manufacturers Association (BMAMA) are supporting the event.

FBCCI President Abdul Matlub Ahmed, IBCCI President Taskeen Ahmed, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers President Vinod K. Dasari, BAAMA President Hafizur Rahman Khan and BMAMA President Matiur Rahman were also present at the inaugural ceremony.

Along with the automobile and automotive companies, government departments, dealers and service agents also joined in the showcase.
