First hajj flight leaves for Jeddah
16 August 2015, Nirapad News: First hajj flights carrying 419 Bangladeshi pilgrims left Dhaka for Jeddah of Saudi Arabia on Sunday morning.
Flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines bg-1011 departed Shahjalal International Airport at 8:35am.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon and Religious Minister Principal Matiur Rahman saw off the first flight.
Besides, pre-hajj flight bg-3011 carrying 419 Bangladeshis is set to leave for Jeddah at 2:30 while fight bg-5011 will leave with 419 pilgrims at 8:35pm and scheduled flight bg-0035 will depart the airport 11:59pm for Jeddah.
Earlier on Thursday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Hajj activities at Ashkona Hajj camp.
The post hajj flights would begin on September 27 and continue till October 28 with 140 flights including 109 dedicated flights and 31 scheduled flights.
The national flag carrier will carry 51,000 pilgrims out of 101,758 from August 16 to September 17 by 145 pre-hajj flights.
A total of 2,600 pilgrims would perform Hajj this year under the government management, while 99,158 pilgrims would go to Jeddah under private management.
