Five women awarded on Rokeya Day in Manikganj
09 December 2015, Nirapad News: Five women who achieved glorious success in various fields were awarded on the occasion of Rokeya Day and National Women repression Prevention Fortnight today.
Deputy Commissioner Rashida Ferdouse was present at the award-giving function as the chief guest held at DC’s conference room while Jamila Khatun, District Women Affairs Officer, was in the chair.
Momtaj Begum, MP, of Joymontop village under Singair upazila was awarded for achieving success in economic sector, Sushmita Ghose of Baliati village under Saturia upazila for achieving success in education and securing job, Soma Sarkar of Char Balirtek village was awarded as successful mother, Rohima Khatun of Barangakhola village was awarded for starting a new life after repression of husband, and Farjana Akhter of Chamta village in Sadar upazila was awarded for extraordinary contribution to the development of the society.
On the occasion of Rokeya Day, a colourful rally was brought out in the town and a discussion was held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner.
Nina Rahman, president of Manikganj district women Awami League, Luxmi Chattarjee, secretary of district women Awami League, and BRAC representative Abu Zafar, among others, spoke on the occasion.
