Flood situation improves in Jamalpur
09 Septembar 2015, Nirapad News: The overall flood situation in the district further improved with the continuous receding of water level in the river Jamuna.
Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) said during the last 24 hours Jamuna dropped 18 cm and was flowing 34 cm over the red mark at Bahadurabad Ghat point at 12 am today.
Civil Surgeon Dr Moshaerul Islam said 79 medical teams are working in the flood affected area of the district.
Executive Engineer of Water Development Board Naba Kumar Chowdhury said dropping of water level in the river Jamuna has continued.
About 2 lakh 80 thousand people in 53 unions out of 68 unions in the district were affected by the flood, District Relief and Rehabilitation Office sources said.
Sub assistant agriculture officer of DAE Abdus Samad Azad said standing crops on 18,645 hectares of land of the district have been submerged.
District Relief and Rehabilitation officer Abul Manjur Md Abdul Hai said 30 tonnes rice were allotted today for distribution among the flood victims.
