Food minister Quamrul’s apology rejected
20 March 2016, Nirapad News: The Supreme Court (SC) has rejected Food minister Quamrul Islam’s plea, filed seeking unconditional apology for remark on Chief Justice and sub-judice matters.
A 9-member SC Appellate Division bench led by CJ SK Sinha passed the order on Sunday morning.
Later the court asked ministers Quamrul Islam and Mozammel Haque to appear before it on March 27. Earlier in the day, both ministers appeared before the court.
Quamrul Islam said that the chief justice had made some observations in open court that raised questions about the prosecutors’ and investigators’ role in the trial. While speaking at the same programme, Mozammel Haque urged the chief justice to ponder whether he should continue in his post.
On February 23, Chief Justice SK Sinha had expressed dissatisfaction over the prosecution’s and investigators’ performances in dealing with war crime cases.
