Foreign aid increases by 6.05pc till December: Muhith
25 January 2016, Nirapad News: The foreign aid in Bangladesh increased by 6.05 percent during the first six months of the current fiscal year in comparison to the same period in the previous fiscal, Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith today said.
Replying to a question from treasury bench member M Abdul Latif (Chittagong-4), Muhith said Bangladesh received US Dollar 1592.41 million till December of the current fiscal, up by $ 90.8 million from 2014-15 fiscal year.
The finance minister also informed the House that the amount of grants out of total foreign aid till December of the current fiscal year was $ 298.83 million, while the credit assistance was $1293.57 million.
Responding to a question from independent lawmaker Md Rustam Ali Farazi (Pirojpur-3), the finance minister said Taka 21,028 crore was realised as revenue from the income tax sector till December of the current fiscal year, higher by 9.83 percent higher from the previous fiscal.
In this connection, Muhith told the House that Taka 19,146 crore was realised as revenue from the income tax sector during the first six months of the 2014-15 fiscal year.
He also said the National Board of Revenue (NBR) is making frantic efforts to achieve the revenue target of the current fiscal. “We hope that target would be achieved,” Muhith added.
