Foreign Minister meets Malaysia’s governor of Sabah
16 May 2015, Nirapad News: Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali paid a courtesy call on the Governor of State of Sabah of Malaysia Tun Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Haji Juhar Haji Mahiruddin on Friday afternoon.
He briefed the Governor about the peaceful co-existence among people of different religions of Bangladesh while the Governor briefed about the history of Kota Kinabalu, the touristic city of Malaysia focusing also on its traditional communal harmony.
They underscored the need for exploring the potentials of tourism cooperation between Bangladesh and Malaysia. The two leaders also discussed about the ongoing human trafficking and people’s smuggling issues.
Earlier, the Foreign Minister arrived in Kota Kinabalu with a view to attending the 4th Joint Commission Meeting between Bangladesh and Malaysia.
He is leading an eight-member Bangladesh delegation that includes high officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment and the Ministry of Commerce.
The Ministerial meeting will be preceded by a senior officials meeting Saturday that is expected to review the whole gamut of bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Malaysia with particular focus on trade, investment and employment of Bangladeshi workers in Malaysia.
The Minister also attended a Community Meeting arranged by the expatriate Bangladeshi community in Malaysia.
