Former Bond girl Gemma Arterton wants Idris Elba to be next James Bond
Nirapad News : Gemma Arterton recently spoke out about how unhappy she was taking a role in Quantum of Solace, but she thinks she knows a man who would take to James Bond movies very well.
The 29-year-old actress, who played Agent Strawberry Fields in the 2008 James Bond movie, is backing Idris Elba for the role of 007.
Speaking to Magic FM, Gemma said: “I think Idris has got the cheek, he’s great with action, he’s funny but he’s suave at the same time, he’s sexy and he’s black and I think we should have a black Bond.
“I just did a film with Idris and I was like ‘You should be James Bond’.”
Gemma opened up recently about her dislike of Hollywood movies, and how unimpressed she was with working on James Bond.
Speaking to The Independent, she said: “I wasn’t happy about it. It wasn’t like: ‘Oh my God, I’m going to be working with these people and it’s a dream come true.’
“It was a great experience and fun to go all those places, but the work wasn’t so interesting.”
Continuing to speak about the movie franchise with the radio station, the actress said she hopes to see Goldfrapp star Alison Goldfrapp pen the next Bond theme tune.
When asked who should perform the theme tune to Spectre, which is expected in cinemas in November, she said: “I always thought that Alison Goldfrapp should do one actually.
“I think she’s got such a Bond vibe to her music, especially her early stuff. I always thought, wow, she’s so Bond but maybe she’s not sort of mainstream enough for them. I’d love for Goldfrapp to do the Bond theme, yes.”
It looks like Gemma’s got Bond on the mind but the question on everyone’s lips is – will Idris be shaken not stirred?
