Four jailed, held for JnU ‘D’ unit entry test forgery

07 November 2015, Nirapad News: A mobile court on Friday sentenced four persons to jail for adopting unfair means during the admission test of ‘D’ unit (Social Science Faculty) for the first year honours courses at Jagannath University (JnU) under the academic session 2015-16.
Executive Magistrate of Dhaka Deputy Commissioner (DC) Office Mamotaj Begum passed the orders.
She said that among the four convicts, two were punished for assisting the admission seekers by providing answers of the question papers through Short Message Service (SMS) while another two for using mobile phones in the examination halls.
The convicts have been identified as Rashedul Islam, a student of Political Science Department and his accomplice Rakibul Islam, a student of Sociology Department—both under the 2009-10 academic session of the university and another two aspirants- Mokam Uddin Kazi and Md Jubayed Miah.
Mokam Uddin Kazi and Md Jubayed Miah were sentenced to one month’s jail each according to the article 188 of Penal Code, 1860 while Rashedul Islam and Rakibul Islam were awarded to one year and two years’ jail respectively under the Public Examination (Crime) Act 1980.
Meanwhile, another aspirant Md Riad Bin Karim was held from the Sheikh Burhanuddin Post Graduate College centre for misbehaving with the invigilator and threatening its principal.
He was later handed over to the Bangshal Police Station by the concerned authorities.
JnU Proctor Dr Nur Mohammad confirmed it to The Daily Observer.
The test was held simultaneously at 24 centers in and outside of the campus from 3:00pm to 4:00pm. A total of 49,930 aspirants sat for the examination against 560 seats.
