Four RU ‘Shibir men’ confined by BCL members handed over to police
11 November 2015, Nirapad News: Leaders of Rajshahi University unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) handed over four students of the university to police for their alleged involvement with Islami Chhatra Shibir.
The arrestees were identified as Abdullah, Rakibul, Abu Sayed and Saddam. They are residential students of Habibur Rahman Hall at the university.
Witnesses said some BCL leaders and activists picked Abdullah and Rakibul from their respective rooms at the hall and took them to the guest room around 11pm on Monday.
The BCL men also picked up two other students — Abu Sayed and Saddam –- from their rooms around 12am and confined them in the guest room.
Later, the four were handed over to police over suspicion of their link link to Shibir activities and gave them good beating with iron rod and stick.
Contacted, officer-in-charge of Matihar Police Station Humayan Kabir said the four students admitted they were Shibir activists.
Three of them were sent to jail today (Tuesday) showing arrest in a violence case while another was undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) under police custody, the OC added.
