Frequency of Maitree express, that runs between Kolkata and Dhaka, increased
DHAKA, Jan 04, 2015 Nirapad News : Bangladesh and India jointly decided to increase the frequency of the Maitree Express from today aimed at meeting demand of the train that runs between Kolkata and Dhaka.
With the addition of one more round trip of the train service between Dhaka and Kolkata, the Maitre will ply for six days between the two destinations instead of existing four days in a week.
The decision was taken at a joint meeting of Bangladesh Railway and Indian Railway in Kolkata on October 26 and 27 to add an additional trip of Maitree Express.
It was decided that the first train service of the additional trip would start from Kolkata for Dhaka on Sunday, while it will leave Dhaka for Kolkata on Monday.
The Maitree Express was introduced in 2008, while Kolkata-Dhaka bus service is on since 1999. The Dhaka to Agartala bus service is operational since 2001.
