Government college teachers go on strike

19 Septembar 2015, Nirapad News: Teachers of government colleges across the country are observing work abstention protesting cancellation of time scale and selection grade in the 8th pay scale.
As per declaration of BCS General Education Association, a platform of teachers and officials in the education cadre, college teachers stared a two-day work stoppage from Saturday, said association secretary general IK Selim Khondker.
He told banglanews that a full-day work abstention is underway at all government colleges, Alia Madrasas, teachers’ training colleges, government commercial institutes, education board, education-related offices and projects.
During the strike, they will not take any kind of examinations in colleges and examinations under National University.
Earlier, the teachers observed a full-day work abstention on September 10, protesting the “anomalies” in the new pay scale.
They alleged that the post of selection grade professors was abolished in the new scale but a special grade for bureaucrats’ remained unchanged.
So, the top post will be captured by officers from other cadres which is discrimination, they added.
Musters examination under National University which was scheduled to be held on Saturday, has been shifted to October 30 for teachers’ work abstention.
In Primary Schools
Assistant teachers of government primary schools staged protests from 9:00am to 12:00pm on Saturday.
The three-hour program will continue till September 21.
They will observe a full-day work abstention on September 22 to press home their demands, including upgrading their status.
