Government undertakes Tk 1,405.69 cr project for embankments, re-excavation

18 June 2015, Nirapad News: Water Resources Minister Anisul Islam Mahmood today said the government has undertaken a project with Taka 1,405.69 crore for rehabilitation of embankments and re-excavation of rivers/khals across the country.

“The government has a plan for excavation/re-excavation of 3,000 kms khals and repair/rehabilitation of 5,850 kms embankments under the project,” he said while replying to a question from treasury bench member Morshed Alam in the House today.

The Minister informed the Jatiya Sangsad that the project titled ‘Rehabilitation of Embankments and Re-excavation of Rivers/Khals’ is now awaiting approval of the planning commission.
