Govt considers for reducing fuel price: Nasrul

12 February 2016, Nirapad News: The government is considering reduction of fuel price in the country, although common people except some traders do not get benefit from the price-cutting.

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Narsul Hamid disclosed this in the Jatiya Sangsad, while replying to a question from opposition bench member Kazi Feroz Rashid today.

“Though the fuel price declined in the international market but at any moment it may increase. From that consideration, fuel price readjustment all at once is not appropriate, ” he said.

Nasrul said: “If the government cuts fuel price, its benefit does not go to the common people although the transport and other related sectors enjoys its causality in reality.”

He informed the House that Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) saved Taka 11,078.75 crore by selling fuel from November 2014 to January 2016. The BPC paid Taka 7,108.63 crore to its various parties.

Besides, process has been underway to pay Taka 496.63 crore to the Petrobangla, the state minister added.
