The minister made the statement as he inaugurated a database of prisoners prepared by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at its headquarters.

His statement came amid recent reports that some people have left the country with fake passports using government officials’ names and their credentials.

The minister said the new online document, ‘Rab Prison Inmate Database System’ will be connected with every immigration point in the country to prevent criminals from leaving the country by faking their names. Similarly, no criminal can enter the country from abroad for it, he added.

He hoped that the NID and Passport department will be benefited having connected with Department of Prisons through the Rab Prison Inmate Database System.

Director General of Rab Benazir Ahmed said 68 jails have been connected with the database following formal opening of the database system.
