Govt. should look thoroughly into reserve money theft: Dr Hasan
15 March 2016, Nirapad News: Dr Hasan Mahmud, publicity and publication affairs secretary of the ruling Awami League, today said the government should look thoroughly into the matter relating to the theft of reserve money of Bangladesh Bank deposited with the Federal Reserve Bank of the United States.
“Alongside, the government should also go deep into the recent incident relating to the cancellation of cargo flights from Bangladesh to Britain,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion in the city.
The recently floated Awami Prochar League organised the discussion at the National Press Club in the capital in observance of the 97th birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
President of the organisation Sheikh Iqbal chaired the discussion, also addressed, among others, by assistant secretary to Awami League sub-committee Advocate Balaram Poddar and general secretary of the host organisation Mujibul Haq Badal.
Dr Hasan Mahmud said the country has been progressing fast under the capable and farsighted leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina which has astonished the world.
“Many persons in Bangladesh don’t like the pace of development of the country. That’s why they along with their foreign mentors have started hatching conspiracy against the country,” he said.
The Awami League leader said the recent theft of reserve money of Bangladesh Bank was the work of the gang of international hackers. But, he regretted that BNP demanded resignation of the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister instead of raising demand for proper investigation into the incident and trial of those culprits.
“There might be a link between the fugitive BNP leader abroad and the hackers. Hearsay is that the BNP leader is a regular attendant of casinos in different countries. The government should look into the matter deeply,” the AL leader added.
Dr Hasan Mahmud called upon the leaders and workers of Awami League to remain more alert building awareness among the people for the sake of continuation of the development in the country.
