Govt. to digitalize 170,000 educational institutions: Palak
12 March 2016, Nirapad News: State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak on Friday said the government has decided to set up multimedia and digital classrooms and computer laboratories at all educational institutions in the country.
“The sole aim of this is that we want to transform Bangladesh from a labour-reliant economy to a digital one,” he said.
He came up with the comments while inaugurating the ‘National High School Programming Competition-2016’ held at the Teachers Students Centre (TSC) of Dhaka University (DU).
Sate minister also said, “Multimedia and digital classrooms and computer labs will be established at 170,000 educational institutions of the country as soon as possible”.
“The aim of the initiatives is to make the future generation equiped with technology,” he added
The state minister also stressed the need for familiarising children with computer programming and coding from an early age.
He also said, “We have set a target to take export earnings from the ICT sector to a few billion dollars by 2021. We will create employment opportunities for a million youths in the sector”.
DU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique presided over the function.
The competition, oaganised by the telecom operator Robi, will take place at 16 regions across the country until April 3. Regional winners will sit for the final round in Dhaka on Apr 9.
