Hanif asks BNP not to use municipal polls as shield to save terrorists

09 December 2015, Nirapad News: Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, MP, today called upon BNP not to use the ensuing pourasabha polls as a shield to save the terrorists.

He made this appeal while speaking at a press conference at the political office of Awami League (AL) president Sheikh Hasina at Dhanmondi in the city. The press conference was convened to give reply to BNP’s allegation that its party leaders-workers have been arrested prior to the pourasabha polls.

“There is no scope to treat those persons as the leaders-workers of any party who killed innocent people by hurling petrol bombs and if there were cases against them on specific charges,” Hanif said adding that they would not be spared how notorious terrorists and how mighty influential they were as there were cases of killing human beings with evidences against them.

Turning down BNP’s allegation that the ruling party wants to win the pourasabha polls using muscles, the Awami League leader said, “Such an allegation of BNP is nothing but ridiculous and fictitious as the polls campaigning has not been started as yet. BNP has chosen an evil design to mislead the people, voters and its leaders-workers prior to the pourasabha polls. There is no reason to come up with such an allegation as no incident has taken place centring the polls as yet.”

Hanif said that BNP has been coming up with such an irrelevant allegation sensing an inevitable defeat of its candidates in the ensuing pourasabha polls.

Awami League joint general secretary Dr Dipu Moni, organising secretaries Ahmed Hossain and Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, MP, office secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, information and research affairs secretary Advocate Afzal Hossain and AL Central Working Committee members SM Kamal Hossain and Aminul Islam Amin were present, among others.
