Happy’s naraji plea on Rubel exemption report
17 May 2015, Nirapad News: Film actress Naznin Akhtar Happy filed a naraji (no-confidence) petition against the final probe report submitted over her allegations of sexual abuse against national cricket team pacer Rubel Hossain.
Happy filed the petition after appearing in person before the Fifth Special Tribunal for Prevention of Women and Children Repression in the city around 11:00 am on Sunday. Happy’s lawyer Tuhin Hawlader confirmed the matter.
Meanwhile, the tribunal judge granted interim bail to Rubel on Tk 10,000 bond after conducting partial hearing in the case. The tribunal also fixed May 20 for next hearing. Rubel, however, was also present in the court.
Earlier on April 6, police Inspector Halima Khatun submitted the report to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court, finding no evidence on Happy’s rape allegation against Rubel.
On December 13, 2014, the actress filed the case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, accusing the fast bowler of backing off from marriage after being intimate with her for months.
However, Rubel spent four days in jail and later participated in World Cup cricket getting bail from the High Court.
Rubel made his debut in international cricket in 2009 and has so far appeared in 23 Tests, 62 ODIs and 11 Twenty20 International.
The medium-fast bowler helped Bangladesh outperform England in the first round of ICC World Cup 2015, leading Tigers to play India in the WC quarterfinal round for the first time in the history of the country’s cricket.
