Harsh Vardhan Shringla next Indian envoy to Bangladesh
24 September 2015,Nirapad News: Harsh Vardhan Shringla, who is currently Indian Ambassador to Thailand, is the next Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh.
Shringla will succeed incumbent High Commissioner Pankaj Saran, who is going to complete his three-year tenure in Bangladesh.
Diplomatic sources said Shringla’s name will be formally announced in the next week and he will join office in this November.
In the course of his diplomatic career spanning 30 years, Shringla has held a variety of positions in New Delhi and in Indian Missions in Paris, Hanoi and Tel Aviv.
He has also served as Minister/Counsellor in the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations, New York and as Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and Durban, South Africa.
Prior to taking up his post in Thailand, Shringla served in the Ministry of External Affairs as Joint Secretary (Director General) responsible for Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Maldives.
He has also headed the United Nations Political and SAARC Divisions in the Ministry. Earlier, he served as Director of the Northern (Nepal and Bhutan) Division and Deputy Secretary of the Europe West Division.
