‘Huge success achieved in women development’
14 April 2016, Nirapad News: The present government has achieved huge success in development and empowerment of the women and ensuring safe maternity, maternal and neonatal health services, sanitation facilities and eradicating social curses.
Government officials disclosed the information at a women rally organised by the District Information Office (DIO) at Pirganj upazila parishad auditorium in Pirganj upazila town of the district this afternoon.
The women rally was arranged with a view to inform the women community as well as common people on the successes achieved by the present government during the past seven years and its future development plans.
Pirganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer SM Mazharul Islam attended the rally as the chief guest with Senior District Information Officer Humayun Kabir in the chair.
Pirganj Upazila Women Affairs Officer Mollika Parveen, Assistant Upazila Education Officer Shahana Parveen and General Secretary of Pirganj upazila Nari Unnayan Forum Akhter Banu Lipi addressed the rally as special guests.
In his welcome speech, the Senior District Information Officer narrated tremendous successes achieved by the government in the education, health, women development and empowerment, poverty alleviation, digitisation and in other sectors.
‘The government has ensured maternal and child health care, safe pregnancy and maternity, sanitation, birth registration, vaccination of babies, hygiene of the adolescents, women empowerment, breast feeding and reduced dowry and child marriage,” he said.
He also narrated the epoch-making steps taken by the government through re-launching of community clinics to ensure health services for the rural people, sub-stipends for female students and other programmes for development of women and children.
Heads of the upazila level government departments discussed on the services being provided to the common people in various fields to speed up the development process in the process of building a middle income Bangladesh.
In his speech, the chief guest laid importance on disseminating information on government efforts to ensure development of women in building a middle income nation by 2021 through realising Vision 2021 as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
