ICT literacy for women can accelerate development
5 October 2015, Nirapad News: Basic literacy on Information and information & communication technology (ICT) and using internet skill for the educated women can turn them into skilled human resources to accelerate national development.
The opinion came at the inaugural ceremony of the fortnight-long training course on ‘Basic ICT Literacy for Women & Outsourcing’ at the Computer Laboratory of Mithapukur Model High School in Mithapukur upazila town here on Sunday.
Mithapukur upazila administration under management of BD Jobs has been organising the training under the Learning and Earning Development Project of the Department of ICT under the Ministry of Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology.
Mithapukur Upazila Chairman Zakir Hossain Sarker inaugurated the training course being participated by a total of 40 unemployed and educated young women of different villages under Chengmari and Baro Hazratpur unions in the upazila.
With Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Mithapukur upazila Mamun-Ar-Rashid in the chair, Headmaster of Mithapukur Model High School Shah Habib-E-Azam, Mithapukur Press Club President Hashem Mandal, senior journalist Habibur Rahman Sona and Sheikh Sadi Sarker addressed the ceremony as special guests.
IT specialist Nizamul Hassan has been conducting the training course being coordinated by Course Coordinator Mahbubar Rashid.
Upazila level government officials, teachers, civil society members, professionals, public representatives and local elite attended the launching ceremony of the training course.
The speakers said that the womenfolk, half of the country’s total population, have been contributing largely in every sector to accelerate the pace of development in the process of building a middle income nation by 2021.
The chief guest stressed on turning all educated young rural women into skilled human resources through providing them with ICT literacy and knowledge on using computer and internet so that they could earn through outsourcing sitting at homes.
He called upon the female participants for taking part in the training course with utmost sincerity to acquire necessary knowledge on ICT and internet facilities to become self-reliant through outsourcing for further enhancing national development.
