ICT observes, No chance of debate over 30-lakhs martyrs
03 February 2015, Nirapad News: The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 on Tuesday (February 2) observed there was no chance over the 30 lakhs martyrs during the country’s liberation war in 1971.
The ICT-1 came up with the observation while pronouncing the verdict against former Muslim League leaders of Netrokona Obaidul Haque Taher and Ataur Rahman Nani for their crimes against humanity during the war.
The three-member tribunal, led by Justice Mohammad Anwar-ul Haque, handed down death sentence to Nani and Taher in the afternoon.
Other members of the tribunal are Justice Shahinur Islam and Justice Mohammad Suhrawardy.
Prosecutor Ziad Al-Malum said the tribunal refuted the debate that recently arose over the accurate number of martyrs during country’s liberation war.
He also said the verdict once again proved that three million people sacrificed their lives for the birth of Bangladesh.
