India wants Bangladesh relations to reach new height
07 February 2016, Nirapad News: Newly appointed India high commissioner Harsh Vardhan Shringla commented that his government wants to bring the existing bilateral relations with Bangladesh to a new height.
He made this comment during his courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at PMO in city on Sunday (February 7).
The envoy said India government gives importance to the relations of neighboring Bangladesh. ‘We want to bring the relations at a new height.’
Prime Minister’s press secretary Ihsanul Karim informed the media after the meeting.
Welcoming the Indian high commissioner, the PM assured him to provide all kinds of assistance during his tenure.
The PM also recalled India’s assistance during Bangladesh’s war of independence in 1971 and expressed her gratitude to the president and premier of India.
She also put emphasis on comprehensive cooperation in mitigating poverty in this region, the press secretary added.
PM’s international affairs adviser Dr Gowher Rizvi and principal secretary Abul Kalam Azad, among others, were present during the meeting.
