Indian navy chief made courtesy call on President Abdul Hamid
24 February 2015, Nirapad News: Indian Navy chief Admiral RK Dhowan made a courtesy call on President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban on Monday. Abdul Hamid said Bangladesh Navy has been maintaining friendly relationship with Indian Navy since its inception.
During the meeting, the President appreciated the cooperation extended by Indian Navy in imparting training to Bangladesh Navy personnel, President’s press secretary Ihsanul Karim told the press.
At present, relations between the two countries are much closer and friendlier than ever before, the President said, adding that for the continued development of Bangladesh Navy the relations should be maintained in future.
The President emphasized on bilateral exercise between Bangladesh Navy and Indian Navy on operations like search and rescue, anti-smuggling, anti piracy with a view to enhancing regional security and good order at sea.
Reciprocating the Bangladesh President, Admiral RK Dhowan said both the countries have the common desire to ensure safe and secured sea to protect the two countries’ maritime resources and check smuggling and piracy. The Indian navy chief underscored the need for exchanging information between the two navies.
