International Women’s Day tomorrow
07 March 2015, Nirapad News: The International Women’s Day will be observed in the country on Sunday as elsewhere across the world, representing an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women and calling for greater equality.
The theme of this year’s day is: Empowering Women – Empowering Humanity: Picture It!
Different organisations have chalked out various programmes to mark the day.
The Women and Children Affairs Ministry will organise a programme at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre at 10:30 am where Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will speak as the chief guest.
Meanwhile, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have issued separate messages on the occasion.
Observing that the contribution of women to family, society and the state is immense, the President underscored the need for ensuring their rights and empowerment alongside providing them with due honour.
He also urged all to work together to protect the rights of women, ensure their empowerment and equal opportunities.
In her message, the Prime Minister called upon all to make a promise to create a world based on equality in order to ensure women’s human rights, logical rights, empowerment and dignity.
