Inu gives Tk two lacs to Journalist Ataul Haq
06 May 2015, Nirapad News: Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, MP, today went to see Khondoker Ataul Haq, acting editor of the weekly, Alor Michil at the National Orthopedic Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment and provided a cheque of Tk two lacs from the Journalists’ Welfare Fund for him.
Prime Minister’s Media Advisor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, president of Dhaka Journalists’ Union (DUJ) Altaf Mahmud, director of the hospital, Professor Iqbal Kafi, chief of the Orthopedic Department, Dr Syed Shahidul Islam, Associate Professor Dr Md Jahangir Alam and other physicians were present.
The minister inquired about the progress of Ataul Haq’s treatment and expressed sympathy to his family members. He also assured them of all possible assistance to the injured journalist. Ataul Haq’s wife, son and daughter were visibly emotional at that time. They expressed deep gratitude to the government.
Hasanul Haq Inu also went to see A T M Shamshuzzoha, Thakurgaon correspondent of Channel I and Abeda Khatun, mother of Zahidul Islam, executive news producer of Bangladesh Television (BTV), who are undergoing treatment at the same hospital.
Later, the minister also visited an artificial leg amputation center established at the hospital and rehabilitation center which has been organized by the Orthopedic Society of Bangladesh and Bhagwan Mahabir Paralyzed Assistance Association. The camp will provide amputation to 500 patients, free of cost, from May 7 to 24, 2015.
