IU teacher gets Madhusudan Award

28 January 2015, Nirapad News: Dr M Manzur Rahman of Bangla Department of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia will get the great poet Madhusudan Award 2016 for his outstanding contribution in research.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid will attend the function as the chief guest and hand over the Award, Certificate and a check of Taka 50,000 to Dr Manzur this evening of the week-long Madhumela marking the 192nd birth anniversary of Michael Madhusudan Datta.

The function will be held at Sagardari village in Jessore district on the premises of Madhusudhan Datta. Bangla department chairman of the University Professor Dr Goutam Kumar Das confirmed the matter on Wednesday.

Dr Manzur Rahman, an Associate Professor of Bangla department in Islamic University nominated for the Madhusudan Award-2016 for his outstanding research book titled “Ancient and medieval Bengali poetry: the evolution and diversity of the words”.

Dr Manzur Rahman son of M Nazrul Islam born in December 15, 1976 at Khayerahuda village under Jibannagar upazila in Chuadanga district.

He passed the SSC from Saint Josephs High School in Khulna, 1991, HSC from Khulna Public College in 1993, BA Honors and Masters in Bangla from Jahangirnagar University in 1998 and 1999.
