Jamaat leader jailed for subversion in Satkhira
Satkhira, 26 May 2015, Nirapad News: A mobile court here on Monday sentenced a local leader of Jamaat-e-Islalmi to two years’ imprisonment for subversive activities.
The convict was identified as Maulana Abdul Gaffar, ameer of Sadar upazila (West) unit Jamaat and son of Akbar Ali of Kushkhali village of the upazila.
Inspector (Investigation) of Sadar Police Station Abul Hashem said, a team of police conducted a drive in Bhadrar More area of the upazila and arrested Gaffar while Jamaat-Shibir men including Gaffar were holding a secret meeting there at about 8:00 pm.
Later, Gaffar was produced before the mobile court led by executive magistrate Redwan-ul-Islam, which handed down two years’ imprisonment to the Jamaat leader.
He was sent to jail on Tuesday morning.
