January 5 election was constitutional obligation: Inu

05 January 2016, Nirapad News: Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Jasod) President and Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu today said the general election of January 5, 2014 was constitutional obligation as there was no way to avoid the election.

“It was not possible to avoid the election. But Begum Zia (BNP chairperson) had made illogical claims, avoided and boycotted the dialogue,” he said adding that actually BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia wanted to destroy the democracy to “kill the constitution” by thwarting the election.

The minister was addressing a discussion as the chief guest on “The politics of conspiracy to bring the unconstitutional and unnatural government in power: Responsibilities of Democratic Force” at Martyr Colonel Taher auditorium here.

To mark the Constitutional Continuation and Day for Democracy Protection”, Dhaka City unit of Jasod Coordination Committee organised the discussion with its coordinator Meer Hossain Akhtar in the chair.

Jasod general secretary Sharif Nurul Ambia, standing committee member Shirin Akhtar, MP, joint general secretary Nazmul Haque Pradhan, MP and Organising Secretary Karim Sikder, among others, joined the discussion.

Inu said giving many concessions, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged Khaleda Zia to participate in the polls. But Khaleda Zia “declared war against the state” and carried out sabotage, subversive activities, arson attacks to kill people leaving the path of dialogue, solution and compromise, he added.
