Japan grants aid of Tk 1.82 crore for meteorological radar system
19 March 2015, Nirapad News: The Japan government has granted aid amounting to about Taka 1.82 crore for the project of the improvement of meteorological radar system in Dhaka and Rangpur.
The government of Bangladesh and the government of Japan signed an exchange notes and grant agreement in this regard at Economic Relations Division (ERD) today, an official release said.
Senior Secretary of Economic Relation Division Mohammad Mejbahuddin and Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Shiro Sadoshima signed the exchange notes and grant agreement on behalf of the respective countries.
The main project will be implemented by Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) under the ministry of Defence.
Under the project, the present meteorological RADAR system of Dhaka and Rangpur will be modernized with the ultramodern Doppler radar system to improve and strengthen the capabilities of forecasting and issuance of warnings of BMD.
