Jatiya Party to ‘leave’ cabinet: GM Quader
31 January 2015, Nirapad News: With the presence of 24 members, out of 37, in meeting on Sunday the Jatiya Party presidium members agreed to leave the cabinet, Co-Chairman GM Quader told media on Sunday.
The meeting was held at party chairman’s Banani office. The other 13 presidium members Opposition Leader Raushon Ershad, ministers Anisul Islam Mahmud, Mujibul Haque and Moshiur Rahman Ranga, recently-sacked secretary general Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu, Opposition Chief Whip Md Tajul Islam Choudhury and Kazi Firoz Rashid did not take part in the meeting.
“Those who attended the meeting said it was necessary for the sake of politics. The decision will be implemented later upon the chairman’s instructions,” GM Quader said.
He also said, “In today’s meeting, members of the presidium gave their opinion in favour of Jatiya Party ministers quitting the cabinet and they said the party will take the decision in this regard at an appropriate time.”
The presidium also approved Ershad’s decision to appoint the co-chairman and replacing Bablu with Howlader as the party secretary general. Ruhul Amin Howlader said that the party will hold its national council session on 16 April
