JGC agreed to improve infrastructural facilities
6 February 2015, Nirapad News: Customs of Bangladesh and India agreed to improve infrastructural facilities, including testing and warehouse facilities, in all 16 land along the borders of the two countries.
The 10th meeting of the Joint Group of Customs (JGC) between the Government of Bangladesh and India was held in New Delhi today.
Md Farid Uddin, Member, National Board of Revenue led the Bangladesh delegation while the Indian side was led by Najib Shah, Director General, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence.
During the meeting, both sides had constructive discussions on further promotion and facilitation of trade between the two countries.
They also took several decisions to remove administrative complexities and operational barriers for quicker passage of goods through the ports.
From now on, India and Bangladesh will share intelligence information to prevent smuggling of goods, narcotics/psychotropic drugs etc.
It was also decided that the standards organization of India and Bangladesh will meet soon to sort out unresolved standardization issues between the two countries.
