Joy for full revival of ‘Joy Bangla’ slogan

03 May 2015, Nirapad News: Stressing the importance of full revival of the spirit of Liberation War, Prime Minister’s ICT Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy on Saturday said all need to work together so that the future generation chants the ‘Joy Bangla’ slogan in a louder voice.

“After 1975 to till 1990 people, especially the young, used to feel shy in voicing the ‘Joy Bangla’ slogan because they were taught that they shouldn’t utter it. What is the meaning of the two words? …. The meaning is victory of the Bengal …,” he said.

Joy, also the son of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said this while addressing ‘Joy Bangla Youth Award’ giving ceremony organised by Centre for Research and Information held at Krishibid Institute in the city.

Thirty people received awards in five categories — business entrepreneurship, community development, research and innovation, social inclusion and empowerment and cultural activities — in recognition of their contributions towards society.

Joy said, “The Joy Bangla slogan is not only the slogan of Awami League…it’s the slogan of our independence…it’s the slogan of Bangladesh…The future generation must utter the slogan louder shedding the shame.”

Mentioning that the country is moving forward under the leadership of Awami League, the PM’s adviser said the youth will make the country forward further through their hard-work and merit. “And this will be the future Joy Bangla.” He went on saying, “Our plan is not only till 2021…now our plan is till 2041 to establish Bangladesh as a developed country.”

State Minister for Science and Technology Yeafesh Osman, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Abul Kalam Azad and Social Welfare Secretary Nasima Begum, among others, spoke at the programme.
