Kalaroa Chhatra League leaders cut off ex-leader’s fingers
Leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League allegedly chopped off four fingers of a former BCL leader’s right hand in Satkhira’s Kalaroa upazila on Friday over a land dispute, police and family members said, reports UNB.
BCL is the student wing of ruling Awami League.
The victim is GM Tushar, 28, son of Munsur Gazi of Paturia village of the upazila and a former vice president of upazila unit BCL.
Gazi said they had dispute over a piece of land in the village with Montu, one of their neighbours.
In continuation of the dispute, Mehedi Hasan, general secretary of Chhatra League’s Kalaroa upazila unit, and his associates beat up Tushar. They cut off his fingers with a machete.
The victim was admitted to sadar Hospital after the attack. He was later taken to Dhaka by a helicopter as his condition deteriorated.
Kalaroa police’s in-charge Md Moniruzzaman said the victim’s uncle had filed a case over the assault accusing 5, including upazila BCL president Sheikh Sagar Hossain, secretary Mehedi and Rezaul Karim.
