19 August 2015, Nirapad News: Pamela Anderson has slammed the plans to turn her hit ’90s show Baywatch into a movie.
But it sounds like producers of the big screen spin-off could have found a new C.J. Parker.
Insiders claim Brit babe Kelly Brook is ‘on the shortlist’ to play Pammy’s iconic role in the film, which has already lined up Zac Efron and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
Kelly, 35, is said to be in the running to play the blonde lifeguard made famous by Pamela in the TV series, with a source telling the Daily Star that the curvy model is perfect for the role.
‘Kelly is one of the shortlisters. It is no surprise. She has an almost identical body to a young Pam, looks sensational in a bikini and is a strong actress. Obviously, she would have to go blonde.’
The star may have some tough competition though with Sports Illustrated favourite Kate Upton and swimsuit model Charlotte McKinney, both blondes, also thought to be on the producers’ wishlist.
Kelly was starting to make a name for herself in the States earlier this year, with a role on new sitcom One Big Happy, but despite a ton of publicity the series was savaged by critics and was ultimately cancelled after just six episodes.
The star is no stranger to showing off her beach body though, uploading plenty of bikini selfies to Instagram this summer.
While Kelly could be on board, Pamela has been busy slamming the movie plans, telling TMZ on Saturday that a reboot is a terrible idea.
‘No one appreciates the remakes,’ the 48-year-old actress explained when asked about the upcoming film from director Seth Gordon.
Pamela, who starred as C.J. between 1992 and 1998, added that the 1990s were a ‘simpler, sweeter time’ that would not translate well onto the modern-day big screen.
The upcoming movie’s stars have in fact indicated that the future Baywatch would focus more on action and less on hot women running in swimsuits, with Zac Efron telling Reuters last week: ‘It’s going to be R-rated, and it’s going to be badass.’
‘I don’t think it’s going to be much like the old Baywatch, to be honest,’ he added. ‘I think we’re going to kind of reinvent it in a big way.’
The producers of the movie – expected to begin production early in 2016 – have apparently not sought out the 1989-2001 series’ stars, with Zac’s co-star Dwayne teasing that a long line of beautiful actresses are vying for Pamela’s role. ‘Who’s going to play C.J.?’ The Rock wondered on the weekend. ‘I can’t tell you the amount of calls we’ve been getting from the most gorgeous actresses and models in the world, from their agents and managers.’
‘They all want to be C.J.’
While Pam isn’t interested in donning the red swimsuit again, her co-star David Hasselhoff is reportedly close to signing a deal to reprise his lead role as Mitch Buchannon.
