Khaleda Zia assisted & patronised blogger killing: Hasan Mahmud

16 May 2015, Nirapad News: Publicity and Publication Affairs secretary of the ruling Awami League Dr Hasan Mahmud today alleged that BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia assisted and patronized the killing of bloggers and for this, she should be grilled.

“The lady leader, who indulges in and harbours killings in the name of politics, was the patron and assistance-provider in the clandestine murders. Begum Zia was the patron of the killing of bloggers,” he said.

Dr Hasan Mahmud said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion at Awami League central office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the city. Awami Ulema League organised the discussion in observance of the historic Homecoming Day of Awami League president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

President of Awami Ulema League Moulana Ilyas Hossain Bin Helali chaired the discussion, also addressed, among others, by assistant secretary to AL sub-committee MA Karim and vice-president of the host organisation Kayesul Alam.

Dr Hasan Mahmud said, “It’s necessary to interrogate Begum Khaleda Zia to stop killing of bloggers once and for all. I will appeal to the government and the law enforcers to take necessary action in this connection.”

“With the allies she (Begum Zia) has forged the 20-party combine including Jamaat and the so-called Islamic parties also have Afghanistan-returned militants. Launching clandestine attacks, such a type of militants have been killing the bloggers harbouring free thoughts,” he said.

Blaming Khaleda Zia for keeping Salahuddin Ahmed in hiding, the AL leader said, “Khaleda Zia kept Salahuddin Ahmed in hiding. He was utilised to issue video messages from hideouts like Al-Qaeda kingpins. Police was in search of his whereabouts. Sensing an adverse situation, Khaleda Zia sent him to Meghalaya of India.”
