Khaleda Zia in frantic efforts to turn Bangladesh into a failed state : Hanif
04 November 2015,Nirapad News: Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub-ul- Alam Hanif today alleged that BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia at the dictates of her foreign mentors has waged a war to turn Bangladesh into a failed state.
“BNP has brought some unjustifiable allegations against the government to cover up the misdeeds it did while it was in power and in the opposition,” he said.
Hanif said this while speaking at a press conference at the political office of Awami League president Sheikh Hasina at Dhanmondi in the city. The ruling Awami League (AL) convened the press conference to give reply to the remarks of Begum Khaleda Zia at a discussion in London on November 2.
In reply to Begum Zia’s allegation that Awami League pursues politics of vengeance, the AL joint general secretary said, “None has witnessed that Awami League practiced politics of vengeance. It’s a people-oriented political party. Khaleda Zia and her son Tarique Rahman had shown what the extreme level of politics of killing and conspiracies could be while BNP was in power.”
He said Begum Zia’s politics of vengeance could easily be understood in observance of her fake birthday on the National Mourning Day with pomp.
“Begum Zia believes in militancy. She has waged a war against Bangladesh at the dictates of her foreign mentors,” the AL leader said.
Terming Begum Zia’s assurance that she would restore good governance after coming to power as like “God’s name in the mouth of a ghost”, Hanif said, “She turned Bangladesh into a state of militants while in power. The country was champion for corruption five times. People were killed by setting them on fire in the name of movement. Khaleda Zia is a name of terror among the people. The masses don’t want to see the queen of murders into power again.”
Criticising BNP chairperson for terming Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as ‘Lady Hitler’, the AL leader said, “It’s nothing but an exposition of her (Begum Zia) inferiority complex. The Prime Minister is hell-bent to establish the rule of law. The Prime Minister doesn’t believe in the festival of corruption like her and her son, who had amassed huge wealth by creating defecto (parallel) power house, Hawa Bhaban, while in power.”
He said Begum Zia had exposed her Pakistani mentality by comparing the great War of Liberation of Bangladesh with terrorism-subversion unleashed by BNP-Jamaat combine to thwart the January 5 polls of last year.
Turning to Begum Zia’s remarks on the BDR mutiny, the AL leader said that the BDR mutiny was carried out in a bid to topple the Awami League-led government from power and Begum Zia’s role then was ‘mysterious’.
About Begum Zia’s call for national unity, Hanif said BNP had to take
recourse to secular politics severing relations with the party of terrorists- militants-war criminals, Jamaat first.
On the recent killing of a blogger, the AL leader said, “The government is determined to try the killers of bloggers and persons believing in free thoughts. Those who are involved in the killing would be brought to justice and they would be handed down with exemplary punishment.”
AL information and research affairs secretary Advocate Afzal Hossain, health affairs secretary Dr Badiuzzaman Bhuiyan Dublew, relief and disaster management affairs secretary Faridunnahar Laily, central working committee members Sujit Roy Nandi and Enamul Haque Shamim were present at the press conference, among others.
