Khaleda Zia should be tried by special tribunal: Shahjahan

10 Septembar 2015, Nirapad News: Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan today said BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia should be tried for killing people and arson by special tribunal.

Speaking at a function here, he said Begum Zia’s recent speech comparing Awami League as a reptile was not true, saying it is BNP which engaged in politics of petrol bombs and arson so Khaleda Zia should be tried for killing people and arson.

The minister said while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of newly constructed passenger launches –MV Green Line 2 and 3 -of Green Line Transport at Lalkuthi auditorium at Sadarghat Terminal in old part of the city.

Shahjahan Khan said BNP-Jammat is trying to create a barrier in development programme of the government. The shipping minister said BNP-Jammat are doing politics for torching vehicles, launch and train while Awami League is doing polices for establishing democracy. Lawmakers Jebunessa Afroj and Shagupta Yasmin also spoke, among others, at the function with proprietor of Green Line Transport Hazi Alauddin in the chair.

Two luxury ships will run on the Dhaka-Barisal river route from September 12 to carry passengers.

The two ships will officially carry passengers up and down the river route two times a day from September 15. One ship will leave Dhaka for Barisal while another ship will run towards Dhaka from Barisal at the same time.

Shajahan Khan said steps have already been taken to develop river routes while navigability has been ensured in many rivers, saying the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken scheme plan for dredging 63 rivers. Tickets of the ships will be collected from all Green Line counters as well as Dhaka and Barisal special terminal.

Tickets will also be available online. Both the launches were constructed at a cost of taka 15 crore. The capacity of each ship is 600 passengers. The fare for business class is Taka 1,000, while economy class passengers will pay Tk 700.
