Khaleda Zia to face ‘false’ cases legally: BNP
09 March 2015, Nirapad News: BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin on Sunday said their BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will face legally the ‘false’ cases filed against her though there is no scope for opposition to get justice due the government’s ‘naked interference’ in the judiciary.
In a statement, he said, “We had earlier said it’s not possible to establish the rule of law when the judicial system is controlled by the executive. The hope of the opposition leaders and activists for getting justice has been revoked long ago due to the naked interference in the judiciary. Even then Khaleda Zia will face with legal steps all the false cases filed against her.”
Accusing the government of turning the country into a terrible police state, Salahuddin said people have now lost their confidence in the law and court. “People had never seen in the past such blood shedding from the body of democracy.”
The BNP leader alleged that Bangladesh now has become a dead valley due to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s evil efforts to hang onto power by walking over bodies of the people who are on a movement.
He alleged that the Prime Minister at a public meeting at Suhrawardy Udyan on Saturday openly announced the punishment of Khaleda Zia. “The effectiveness of the law, court and judiciary has no longer left after her such an announcement.”
Salahuddin alleged that the government is trying to mislead the country’s people and the international community with their intentional militancy campaign only to hide the political crisis it has created by holding a lopsided election on January 5, 2014.
He warned the law enforcers that though the Prime Minister announced to ‘take the responsibility for mass killings’, no one will be able to escape trial for their involvement in the killings.
The BNP leader urged the government to come to the path of democracy shunning autocracy and dictatorship. “Save the country, its people and try to protect yourselves.”
