05 November 2015, Nirapad News: Three terrors were killed in separate ‘gunfights’ in Benapole of Jessore, Tongibari of Munshiganj and Rajbari early Thursday.
Accused of an arms case was killed in a cross-fire at Baropota village under Putkhali union of Benapole in Jessore.
The deceased was identified as Ilias, 32, son of one Suruj Molla, hailed from Karchandrapur village of Rajbari sadar town.
Benapole port thana officer-in-charge (OC) Apurba Hasan told banglanews that a police van that was carrying Ilias to a Jessore court on November 4 turned turtle and the accused managed to flee the scene.
Later, receiving information that Ilias has been trying to enter India police went to detain him in Benapole area.
At a stage, cohorts of Ilias opened fire to police. The law enforcers also shoot to defend themselves.
OC Apurba Hasan also said Ilias was mistakenly shot by his own men and died in the spot.
Police sent the body to Jessore Medical College and Hospital, he added.
Meanwhile, Sentu alias Picchi Sentu, 35, was killed in a gunfight at Kathadia Idga area under Tongibari Upazila of Munshiganj around 4:00am.
Sentu, son of one late Joynal Bepari, hailed from Sonarang village of the upazila.
Sub-inspector Jasimuddin, and two constables Mizan and Delwar were injured during the shooting.
Later, police seized a revolver with two rounds of bullet, one Chinese axe, two machetes and two iron rods.
Tongibari thana officer-in-charge (OC) Alamgir Hossain told that they arrested Sentu on Wednesday.
While quizzing, he informed about arms, he added.
During the drive to seize the arms in the area, Pintu’s assistants opened firing aiming police that prompted police to open fire for self-defence.
During the time, Sentu got hit by a stray bullet while trying to fled the scene, he added.
Besides, another terror Touhidul Haque Shahin alias Picchi Shahin was killed in another gunfight at Alipur of Rajbari sadar upazila around 2:45am.
Four police officials also sustained injuries in the incident.
District DB sub-inspector Kamal Hossain confirmed the matter .
He said police went to recover arms in the area. Sensing the presence of cops, Shahin’s assistants opened fire to police. In response, police also opened fire to them that injured Shahin.
He was taken to hospital where on-duty declared him dead.
There were 13 cases filed against Shahin, he added.
