Knowledge is new millennium’s resource: Dr Jafar Iqbal
19 March 2016, Nirapad News: Noted writer Professor Dr Jafar Iqbal today said the resource of the new millennium is knowledge, not weapons.
“I am a man of that factory of knowledge and my job is to impart knowledge”, Dr Iqbal said while speaking at Chittagong Regional Session of the National High School Programming Contest, held at Chittagong University of Science and Technology (CUET).
Nearly 1200 students from 55 high schools in Chittagong took part in the contest organized by the Information and Communication Technology Division (ICT).
CUET Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Mohammad Jahangir Alam inaugurated the session as the chief guest around 9 am.
Immediately after the programming contest, a lively quiz competition was also held with participation of the promising students.
Amid the competition, the writer was motivating the students with inspiring words and giving replies to different inquisitive questions of the students.
Making reminiscence of his student life, Dr Iqbal said, “I did not get any prize when I was of your age. I was good neither at race nor at jumping and I could not manage any prize for recitation as my pronunciation was not so good”.
“I am with those who have not got any prize today. You have to remember that only prize is not everything. Today I, who did not get any prize, am distributing prizes. One day, like me, you will also come out successful in your life and hand over medals among the winners”, the writer continues.
Dr Jafar Iqbal also hoped that Bangladesh will be able surpass Europe in the fields of science and technology by 2050 unlocking immense potentials of today’s students.
