Koko laid to eternal rest in Banani City Corporation Graveyard
27 January 2015, Nirapad News : Arafat Rahman Koko, younger son of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and former President and Lieutenant General Ziaur Rahman, was laid to eternal rest at Banani graveyard in Dhaka this evening. He was buried at grave No. 47, lane No. 18 and block-B of Banani City Corporation Graveyard at around 6:45pm, following his second and final Namaze-Janaza at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.
Apart from family members, friends and well-wishers and hundreds of people, including senior BNP leaders, were present during the burial.
Earlier in the afternoon, a large number of people participated in Koko’s namaz-e-janaza at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. After the janaza, the body was taken to the Banani graveyard. Moulana M Salauddin Ahmed, khatib of the mosque, led the janaza after Asr prayers. Leaders and activists of BNP, its political allies and people from different walks of life took part in the janaza that started at 5:12pm.
Around one square kilometer area around the mosque was assembled with the people taking part in the Janaza. Prior to the Janaza, Khaleda Zia’s younger brother Shamim Eskander urged the people to pardon Koko if any of them have been hurt by him. He also asked them to communicate with the family later should they have any financial or otherwise dealings pending with Koko so that his debts could be cleared if any.
Earlier Arafat Rahman Koko was denied his right to be buried at the Banani Military Graveyard due to which his burial took place in Banani civil graveyard after completion of his Janaza in Baitul Mukarram.
