Latif Siddiqui shifted to ICU at BSMMU
28 February 2015, Nirapad News: Abdul Latif Siddiqui, Former Telecommunication Minister and Awami League leader has been shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) here this morning.
Farman Ali, Senior Jail Super of Dhaka Central Jail, told “the former minister had been at the hospital since January 6 and all on a sudden he suffered heart stroke at around 9 am at the cabin block of the hospital.”
Immediately after the incident, he has been shifted to the ICU of the hospital and he is now under treatment of Dr Sajal Banarjee of the hospital, said the central jail official.
Sacked minister Abdul Latif Siddique was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) for chest pain and high blood pressure.
The 77-year-old politician is now behind bars in connection with a case for hurting religious sentiment. On November 25, a Dhaka court sent expelled Awami League leader Latif to prison after police produced him before it in the case filed for his derogatory remarks on hajj and Tablighi Jamaat.
He surrendered to Dhanmondi Model Police Station around 1:30 pm on that day, two days after returning home from India.
