They said Khaleda Zia burnt alive and killed innocent people including women and children across the country through petrol bomb and arson attacks on motor vehicles to disrupt the process of development initiated by the Awami League government under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The lawmakers made the remarks in the Jatiya Sangsad while taking part in the general discussion on thanksgiving motion of President’s address in the House on January 19.

Taking part in the discussion Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is leading the country towards development and progress in line with the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Referring to BNP-Jamaat anti-government movement, he said the BNP called the blockade and hartal only to push the country backward and deter the ongoing development work of the present government, which earned appreciations from different international quarters.

Menon said the common people have become the worst victims of the brutal petrol bomb and arson attacks unleashed by the BNP-Jamaat clique in the name of blockade.

He said the country is advancing in a faster pace to its desired development goal under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s leadership.

Sayeedul lauded the efficient leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who took various pragmatic steps to achieve outstanding development in various sectors despite frequent acts of anarchy and unrest by the BNP and its allies.

He said students are growing up with negative sentiment about politics, because students are failing to attend their examinations due to political movement. “We started the practice of democracy during President Hussein Muhammad Ershad’s regime,” Ziauddin Ahmed said.
