Lions Club arranges blood donation camp in Rangpur

5 October 2015, Nirapad News: The Lions Club of Rangpur (LCR) dtrict-351A2 with assistance of private sector Rangpur Community Medical College Hospital (RCMCH) organised a cost free blood donation camp in the city on Sunday.

Specialist physicians, technicians and nurses of RCMCH conducted the camp at City Social Welfare Department Office premises where 40 persons, including male and female youths spontaneously donated 40 bags of blood.

The daylong camp was organised by the LCR on the fourth day of observance of the Lions October Service Week-2015 since last Thursday to serve the suffering humanity and distressed people in the district.

A brief discussion meeting was arranged in the inaugural ceremony there with President of LCR District 351A2 Lion Shahidul Anam Tuhin in the chair.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Dr A T M Mahbubul Karim attended the inaugural ceremony to launch the blood donation camp as the chief guest.

City Social Welfare Officer Emdadul Haque Pramanik, Deputy Director of RCMCH Merajul Muhsin, Vice-president of Rangpur Social Welfare Coordination Council Masudar Rahman addressed the ceremony as special guests.

Sohel also spoke.

First Vice-president of LCR Lion Emdadul Islam, its Second Vice-president Lion Hassan Mahmud Akhter Lotan, Treasurer Lion Kamrul Hassan Jewel, Lion Abdur Rahim, Lion Jiban Nesa Jiban, Lion Farhana Hassan Bithi and Lion Shahin Parvez were present.

Co-chairman of the Week Observance Committee Lion SM Rezaul Karim moderated the inaugural ceremony of the free blood donation camp.

Under the weeklong programmes, the LCR with assistance of the Lions International and Green Earth Save Heart have been providing various services to the poor, distressed and physically challenged people at different places in the district.

Observance of the week will conclude on October 7 through a seminar at the LCR office and Zila Parishad Administrator and Acting President of district Awami League Mamtaz Uddin Ahmad will attend it as the chief guest, LCR sources said.
