Long tailback on Dhaka-Chittagong highway
14 March 2015, Nirapad News: A long tailback was created on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway from Friday evening to Friday night as a truck went out of service in Mirsharai Upazila in Chittagong district.
A highway police official said a 10-kilometre (km) long gridlock was seen on both side of the highway after the engine of a truck stopped near Ochhi Miah Bridge on the busy highway due to mechanical fault.
The tailback was created from Haddifakir Bazar area to Mithachhara area, causing immense sufferings to passengers, he added. Mirsharai Police Station’s Sub-Inspector Arifur Rahman said the truck went out of service in the middle of the important highway near the bridge around 6 pm, creating the situation. However, it was removed from the middle of the highway at night.
